| The focus habitat ranges from planted loblolly pine plantations to natural longleaf pine stands. It is expected that most of the potential HCP participants will be those landowners who grow commercial pine and have isolated red-cockaded woodpecker (RCW) groups. These isolated groups are not likely to persist due to RCW demography, namely the cooperative breeding system and its dependence on aggregations of groups for dispersal. | |
