    HCP covers Mojave population of the desert tortoise. The western chuckwalla was a covered species in the MSHCP; however, FWS did not issue coverage for this species in the permit. Acreage protected/enhanced = 85,000 acre Boulder City Conservation Easement plus approximately 4.3 million acres of federal lands to be enhanced.
