    Habitat
Red Oak Timber Company proposes to harvest 137 acres of timber in Vernon Parish, Louisiana. That timber is dominated by longleaf and loblolly pine stands that average approximately 45 - 60 years old and have an average basal area of 90 square feet per acre. There are two active red-cockaded woodpecker (RCW) clusters, located on that property. The active cavities associated with those clusters consist of two natural cavities and five artificial cavity inserts. The artificial cavity inserts were voluntarily installed to provide roost sites for all of the RCWs associated with the two RCW clusters.
