Food Habits

Mohave tui chubs forage on insect larvae, small fish, and detritus.

Reproductive Strategy

Spawning season is from March or April to October. Females deposit adhesive eggs over aquatic vegetation; each female produces from 4,000 to 50,000 eggs per breeding season (March or April to October). Upon hatching, the fry school in shallows; chubs 1 to 3 inches (2.5 to 7.6 cm) in length school in water 1 to 2 inches (2.5 to 5.1 cm) deep.
