Fish and Wildlife Service - Attwater Prairie Chicken National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) Work type not yet selected Labor type not yet selected Critical Need 33% of APC broods in the wild were successful in FY 17. 3.7.1-1 60% of APC broods survived to 2-weeks of age in the wild in FY 14, a sharp increase from previous years. Unfortunately, only 8-10 chicks survived beyond this period due to heavy rains (>10.5 inches) in May. 50% of broods survived to two weeks of age in the wild in FY 15 with about 6 chicks surviving to 6-weeks of age. Poor survival was once again attributed to heavy rains in May and June (~22 inches). FY 16 experienced unprecedented flooding (500-year flood) and FY 17 experienced Hurricane Harvey which again brought another 500 year flood event. Brood survival in FY 18: 1/1 broods at APCNWR and 1/2 broods at Goliad survived critical 2 week period. Total = 2/3 (67%). Target: ~69% (2-week survival observed for Minnesota greater prairie-chickens). Not Started Labor type not yet selected Work type not yet selected
