In 2005, Taylor et al. established that the main source of nutrient input into karst ecosystems is from the cave cricket foraging area (105 meters from the cave footprint). Williamson County is taking steps to sustain nutrient flow by protecting the cave cricket foraging area in the Priscilla's Well karst fauna area, the Twin Springs KFA, and the Cobbs Cavern KFA
