Species Profile Redesign, FY2006

View example Species Profiles

Purpose

The legacy Species Profile pages expose the following data elements to all users:
  • Inverted Common Name
  • Latin (Scientific) Name
  • Species Family, as entered in TESS
  • Species Group
  • Link to Conservation Plans
  • Link to Petition Findings
  • Link to USFWS Refuges where the species is found
  • FWS Virtual Newsroom -- two (Virtual Newsroom and Current News Releases) links go to the home page, not a search result
  • NatureServe Explorer Species Report for that species -- this sends the species Latin name to NatureServe and hits the correct species approximately 40% of the time
  • Each population of the species has a subsection that shows:
    • Listing Status
    • Date the population was first listed
    • Species Range (Historic)
    • Lead Region
    • Link to Current Recovery Plan(s)
    • Link to Critical Habitat
    • Link to Special Rules
    • Link to Federal Register documents
    • Link to other miscellaneous documents
