General Information
The Autumn buttercup (Ranunculus acriformis var. aestivalis) is a herbaceous perennial. At maturity, these plants are between 1 to 2 feet tall. The stems and leaves are covered with fine hairs. The plant flowers from July to early October. There are typically six to ten flowers per plant and each flower is approximately 1/2 inch in diameter. The flowers have five yellow petals and produce twenty to forty small, dry, one seeded fruits clustered at the center of the flower.

Habitat Requirements
The only populations of the endemic Autumn buttercup occur in the Sevier River Valley in western Garfield County, Utah. This species is found in perennial wet meadows but on islands of drier peaty hummocks. Autumn buttercup can be found growing with other common wetland species plants including beaked spikerush, asters, Nebraska sedge, black saltwort, Baltic rush, giant shooting stars, and other marsh buttercups.
