The species or species group stratum densities from the Waterfowl Breeding Population and Habitat Survey for 2000 to 2024. There are no estimates for 2020-21.This data view presents the species or species group density as the Total Indicated Birds (TIBs) per square mile surveyed for each stratum and year.

The Waterfowl Breeding Population and Habitat Survey is composed of two distinct survey areas: first, the traditional area, which has been surveyed in its current design since 1974 and extends from coastal Alaska through the boreal forest to western Ontario, and through the parklands and prairies south to South Dakota; second, the eastern area, which has been surveyed since 1990 and covers portions of Ontario, Quebec, Labrador, Newfoundland, the Canadian Maritimes, and Maine.
