Area Description Information

Location Serpentine wetlands in the Josephine ophiolite sheet that covers an area of more than 150 square miles and extends from Southwestern Oregon Josephine and Curry Counties) to Northwestern California (Mendicino, Trinity, and Del Norte Counties)in the western Siskiyou Mountains.
Habitat Serpentine wetland communities taht are generally dominated by the insectivorous plant, Darlingtonia californica, and occur in areas where there is a perennial flow of water, in soils that are ultramafic or serpentine in origin.
