As of 11/2005, there is 30% survival rate. (CR 12/2005) Based on 2011 surveys by FWS/NPS the majority of the outplantings established in 2005 were surviving, mainly around Cave and Cat Canyon, and some were also showing signs of recruitment (DS 07/2012). Seed were collected in 2017, approximately 400 were grown from 2018-2109, and these were planted around the campground/housing in 2019 (California Institute of Environmental Studies). KGN 20190826. The outplantings noted above were mostly killed by deermouse predation for moisture. There are additional plants being grown in the nursery to outplant with and without cages to formally investigate this. KGN 20210831. Nursery grown outplanting continues by CIES. Last known survey conducted in 2011 by FWS and NPS. Only one known population (Arch Canyon) in decline, others stable or showing signs of recruitment. Signal peak not surveyed in 2011 (DS 07/2012). Numbers of plants were estimated at all occurrences on the island over 2017-2019, except for the largest occurrence on the southwest side of the island. KGN 20190826. KGN 20210831: Fairly detailed surveys were conducted by CIES. The large SW occurrence noted above was surveyed by photocounts by helicopter, and it was found that most of the plants on the island are on that cliff occurrence. 20230821: CHIS has obtained on IAA with the VFWO for CIES to monitor DUTR in the coming fiscal year.
