Dudley Bluffs Bladderpod/Twinpod (2 spp.) F 6 Western Colorado Ecological Services Field Office (970) 243-2778 Dudley Bluffs bladderpod Lesquerella congesta 1 217 Address and research impact from oil and gas development Ongoing Current U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Colorado Division of Wildlife, Bureau Land Management , Colorado Natural Areas Program Management: Land Use Labor type not yet selected The Piceance Basin is undergoing rapid oil and gas development. These impacts were vaguely addressed in the recovery plan. Project impacts are being assessed through section 7 and guidance we are developing. Research looking at impacts was completed in 2012 but small sample sizes and the relative recentness of the development made it difficult to assess effects. A repeat of the study is needed in 10 years. A study is being initiated in 2012 to try introducing plants into unoccupied habitats. The study is also looking at the effects of planting forbs for pollinators into sites.

The BLM also has a few monitoring sites that are occassionally monitored. Some sites show downward trends and some show upward trens. None of the monitoring has been done consistently enough or for a long enough period to adequately determine trends. BLM costs = 1K/year.
