These include monitoring survival at impacted sites, ability to move with declining water levels at several impacted sites, quantifying emersion time to death, modeling persistence under varying degress of water consumption, and evaluating water quality and quantity using artifical pumping of ground water over mussel beds.

This population extends the its known range by nearly 95 River Kilometer Miles. Represents ol the second known collection (17 live individuals at 6 sites) of the species in the lower Ochlockonee River Basin. Currently FWS is conducting status surveys in the Ochlockonee River Drainage for Ochlockonee moccasinshell, purple bankclimber, oval pigtoe, and the shinyrayed pocketbook. We are conducting a large-scale effort to locate additional subpopulations of fat threeridge, purple bankclimber, and Chipola slabshell in the Apalachicola River.
