This preferred alternative included several key recommendations: Resume egg collection in WBNP by collecting 10 eggs per year for 10 years. Build capacity of the SSP facilities and population by retaining more fledglings (810 per year) including those from AWBP origin over the next 25 years. Continue releases of captive-bred fledglings from the SSP into the reintroduced populations (EMP and LNMP) to sustain them at or above 100 birds, while continuing to research and mitigate key stressors. Perform additional science and knowledge tasks, including continuing to investigate any effects of egg collection activities and climate change on the AWBP, stressors and bottlenecks impeding sustainability of the EMP and LNMP, and demographic and genetic effects in the SSP flock. | |||
