Early juvenile somatic growth rates in the GOM were greater than those previously reported for the Atlantic, indicating potential for differences in maturation trajectories between regions. Long-term significant decreases in growth rates were found for both juveniles and adults, which could influence recruitment to the reproductive population and oberved nesting population trends. Ongoing Current Labor type not yet selected Work type not yet selected Coastal states both in Mexico and in the US are increasing outreach activities both live and virtually. The increase of social media, has led to more opportunities for in person outreach activities e.g. school programs. In 2018, with Early Restoration funds, GPZ will Integrate an interactive education and awareness component to the conservation efforts being undertaken at Playa Miramar in Ciudad Madero. Playa Miramar is one of the main tourist destinations in Tamaulipas, receiving many visitors from Tampico and Altamira, as well as from all over the state including rural communities such as Rancho Nuevo, Barra del Tordo, and Tepehuajes, and other states in Mexico. According to the Tourism Department of the State Government of Tamaulipas, Playa Miramar represents 60% of the tourist influx in Tamaulipas, and is considered the main tourist destination in the State. GPZ will establish a sea turtle conservation biological station/visitor center at Playa Miramar that will consolidate marine ecology and endangered species educational components of agencies and institutions that are part of the Tamaulipas’ environmental education network. The Municipalities of Altamira, Tampico and Ciudad Madero in particular, could become a potential partners inasmuch as they would provide transportation for the school groups of the metropolitan area comprised of these three cities.
