Though there is low probability of chub being in this area it helped to build relationships with landowners. Additionally by creating pools and adding fish structues these area could be used in the future by fish. temperature data is being collected by NDOW to see if the area could be suitable for chub.

Plans for refugia on Pahranagat NWR are currently being devleoped by the refuge, with input from ES and NDOW. 42-2 The first refugium for Pahranagat roundtail chub was established at the Key Pittman WMA (2004). In 2010, pond habitat was created at Cottonwood Spring on the Pahranagat NWR. Intitial attepmt to establish a population failed in 2011. In 2016 we introduced 100 chub from Key Pittman WMA. This was done after one year of water quality monitoring was completed and a rotenone treatment to remove mosquito fish. Using a combination of PIT tag monitoring and hoop neeting we showed that chub were able to survive and reproduce in Cottonwood Spring. In 2017, we completed a full stocking of the spring using 1,100 broodstock chub from Southwestern NAtvice Aquatics Research and Recovery Center. We are currently monitoring survival using PIT tag technology. Complete 2015 2017 Labor type not yet selected Work type not yet selected
