These barriers restrict access to desert dace habitat by blocking upstream passage of nonnative fishes. Nonnative fish are currently restricted to Mud Meadow Reservoir. Planning efforts are under way to create a updated restoration management plan for Soldier Meadow and desert dace. Resource agencies continue to meet as part of the Soldier Meadow Working Group to coordinate recovery efforts .

Installation of kiosks help to inform visitors of the species and habitat within Soldier Meadow has increased awareness of these sensitive areas. BLM has completed relocation of one major hot spring camping area further from the dace, springsnail, and plant habitats, as well as closed roads near sensitive habitats.

The NCA includes the existing Soldier Meadow ACEC and other occupied desert dace habitats on public lands and provides additional protective measures.

Monitoring for nonnative fish species has occurred in conjunction to these surveys. Dace and Elongate Mud Meadow springsnail habitat monitoring at several spring systems occurred in 2004 and 2010. Springsnail populations were surveyed in 2001, 2008 and 2012, and are scheduled to be completed again in 2013. Soldier Meadow cinquefoil were last surveyed in 2003. Elongate Mud Meadow springsnail and Soldier Meadow cinquefoil were removed from the candidate list in 2012 and 2013, respectively.

BLM provided a campground host in the peak visitor use 2013 to inform users of species/habitat concerns. USFWS, BLM, and NDOW continue to provide public information and education about the sensitive resources in Soldier Meadow.
